Originally from Dudley, UK, and deeply rooted in Manchester’s vibrant music culture, Julie first gained international recognition as the backing vocalist for the legendary Happy Mondays, touring worldwide with the band from 2004 to 2012. Her early career saw collaborations with renowned UK bands and international acts including Kasabian, Big Finn, and Womack & Womack, and she has worked with respected labels such as Grand Central, Giant Step Records, and Sanctuary Records. She featured on the Uncle Dysfunctional album, produced by Sunny Levine and released on Noel Gallagher’s Big Brother Records. Julie’s style is a rich fusion of soul, gospel, jazz, and funk, layered with modern influences like EDM, drum and bass, and soulful house. Her 2025 single “Wired”, written and produced by Richard Thorburn and released by Spiral Karma Records, is a genre-defying anthem celebrating life, love, and creative authenticity. Throughout her career, Julie has continued to evolve as a solo artist, recording and performing with diverse producers across Europe including Zamali, Jayl Funk, Destjil, and Manchester's NGUVU. Past releases like Deep Inside (Timewarp Music), Love Power (Calder Recordings), and Be Again (with Backdraft/LAB2) have earned her recognition in the soul, funk, and electronic music scenes. Beyond the stage, Julie is the founder of TheVocalPod (www.thevocalpod.org), a voice development program designed to empower vocalists of all levels. Julie E Gordon is a British performing artist, renowned for her rich, soulful vocals and genre-blending musical style. She first rose to prominence in 2004 as the backing vocalist for the iconic alternative rock band The Happy Mondays, touring internationally with them until 2012 and lending her unmistakable voice to many of their classic tracks.
Over the years, Julie has collaborated with a wide range of influential artists, including Kasabian, Big Finn, and Womack & Womack. Her recording credits span respected labels such as Grand Central, Giant Step Records, and Sanctuary Records, and she worked alongside acclaimed producer Sunny Levine on the album Uncle Dysfunctional, released under Noel Gallagher’s Big Brother Records.
In 2025, Julie returns with “Wired,” a vibrant new single written and produced by Richard Thorburn and released on Spiral Karma Records. The track is a celebration of life, love, and the power of music—delivered with Julie’s signature blend of soul, R&B, and pop, and marked by a refreshing authenticity that connects deeply with listeners.
